The Dutch East India Company was the most valuable company ever in world history. With a value of 78 million Dutch Guilders, adjusted to 2012 currency rate, it was worth US$7.4 trillion! After capturing the Portuguese fort in Pulicat, a small seashore town in today’s Tamil Nadu, they first established their trading in India in 1609 and continued operations for more than a hundred years, until the British defeated them.
